Public Services
Public Safety
Crews, Fire, EMS, Utilities, and Police may not be able to reach you during a storm once winds exceed safe levels. The Cocoa Beach Fire Department monitors wind levels throughout the storm using Fire Department wind sensors, decisions to stop services is not made lightly.
When crews resume services they will respond based on call urgency.
The City of Cocoa Beach provides Public Safety notices throughout the storm via Facebook, X, and Cocoa Beach Network News (CBNN).
Sewer Systems
The Water Reclamation Department asks that residents and local businesses to help in ensuring the health of our sewer system. Here are a few things our residents and business owners can do to help minimize impacts of sanitary sewer overflows or backups:
- Limit Water Consumption to the greatest extent possible.
- Perform Laundry duties today and tomorrow to minimize water usage during and after the storm event.
- Begin using single service utensils (paper plates, paper cups, disposable cutlery) to minimize washing dishes.
- Reduced shower times and turning off water while brushing teeth, washing hands, or shaving will minimize water into the sewer system
- Make sure your home or business has a sewer cleanout cap intact so storm water can’t enter the sewer laterals.
- Only flush toilet paper and human waste. Even though some products such as wipes may claim to be flushable, they are not.

Water Utilities
The City of Cocoa is your water utility provider. All residents are advised to prepare for the potential loss of water service and for the possible issue of a Precautionary Boil Water Notice once water service is restored.
How to prepare? Store water ahead of the storm, including filling your bathtub.
Cocoa Beach will share water notices as they go into effect, you can also follow City of Cocoa Facebook and Website for more immediate information.
