Records

The Records Division plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate and organized records within the Cocoa Beach Police Department. They are responsible for overseeing the management, organization, retention,  and dissemination of police records, state and federal statistical reporting, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements and department policies. In addition, the Records Division offers Background Checks, Fingerprinting and Notary Services. Please note, background checks are for the City of Cocoa Beach ONLY.

Requesting Police Records

To obtain copies of police reports, you may make a request through any of the following methods:

  • Visit the Cocoa Beach Police Department at 85 S Orlando Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL, 2nd floor.
  • Call the Records Division at 321-868-3265.
  • Fax a request to 321-868-3239, Attn: Police Records. 
  • Complete the Online Request Form.

Requests for public records are preferred in writing for clarity of the request; however, this is not mandatory. All requests will be reviewed by Records office personnel before records are released to ensure non-exempt status and for the completion of any redactions. All public records requests will be destroyed if not picked up within 30 days of completing the request, regardless of payment status.

 

Video recordings and/or digital photographs: All requests for video recordings or photographs are outsourced to a private vendor for redactions or obscuring. This process shall be billed on an individual basis, per the cost of the private vendor. This process requires a non-refundable $50.00 deposit, paid in advance, to initiate the process with the vendor. If you wish to proceed with your request, please remit payment, along with a copy of your request to Cocoa Beach Police Department, Attention Records, 85 S. Orlando Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931. Payment may be made by cash, check, or money order made payable to Cocoa Beach Police. Payment can be made in person or by mail. Credit/Debit Cards are not accepted.

Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. There are NO Fingerprinting Services on Mondays.

Accident Reports

A Sworn Statement for Crash Report form is required for all Accident Report requests, regardless of time frame.  

Crime Reports

Reports are generally available 24 to 48 hours after the incident, however, this may be affected by various circumstances.  Not all crime reports are available to the public (an ongoing criminal investigation, for example), and not all information is available to the public (juvenile information, for example). Certain Redactions and Exemptions may apply, based on Fla. Stat. § 119.

Request an Exemption from Public Record

Pursuant to FLA Constitution, Article 1, §16 (b), if you are requesting that your identifying information be redacted from specific CBPD public records, please submit the completed Marsy’s Law Victim’s Rights to Confidentiality Form along with your contact information to records@cityofcocoabeach.com.

Pursuant to Fla. Stat. § 119.12(2), the contact information for the City of Cocoa Beach Police Department’s Custodian of Public Records is to be prominently posted in the administrative building where the City of Cocoa Beach Police Department’s public records are routinely created, sent, received, maintained, and requested and on the agency's website.
