It's time to gear of for the new school year! 

Back to School

School starts on August 11, with our littlest learners in Kindergarten starting August 14. 

Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday

And just in time, Florida's Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday is running through the entire month - August 1 to the 31!

That means you can stock up on school supplies, clothes, shoes, and even computers, without paying sales tax. Whether you're prepping for the first day of kindergarten or sending someone off to college, it's a great time to save.

Qualifying items include:

  • School supplies ($50 or less)
  • Clothing, footwear, and backpacks ($100 or less)
  • Personal computers and accessories ($1,500 or less)

Coffee with the City Manager

Join us for casual conversation and community updates at Coffee with the City Manager on Tuesday, August 19, from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Cocoa Beach Country Club.

Mosquito Control

Brevard County Mosquito Control has been actively and proactively managing mosquitos populations across the area. Their ongoing efforts include:

  • Salt Marsh Management
  • Larval treatments
  • Fish stocking
  • Aerial and truck spraying

In response to recent health alerts from the Florida Department of Health and increased media coverage of mosquito-borne illnesses, Brevard County is reassuring residents that mosquito control teams have enhanced treatments, particularly in areas where mosquitoes capable of transmitting dengue are more likely to be found.

Recent Activity:

Truck spraying occurred on  July 29th. Spraying typically begins 30 minutes after dusk, when mosquitoes are most active and wildlife has settled. If walkers are encountered, truck drivers pause spraying until they pass safely.

Whenever possible, residents are encouraged to stay indoors during scheduled mosquito control activities. For upcoming spray schedules and more info, visit the Brevard County Mosquito Control website.
