Storm Prep Sunday:
Lightning, Drills, & Staying Connected
Hey there Neighbor,
We hope the information that we have run through lately has been helpful and a guide to being ready for storms this wet summer.
We've sent you emails from the start of the summer storm/hurricane season with helpful and useful information. Next month we are going to be getting into some terms and what we do as a city once an emergency is called.
If there is something you want to learn or know email us at socialmedia@cityofcocoabeach.com! We can't wait to hear from you.
Week 1: Be Safe. Be Informed
Read July Week 1 CBNN
We kicked off July by focusing on how to stay informed during storm events. We’ll use available City communication channels to keep you updated, including:
We also share important updates from Brevard County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.
Week 2: Lightning Safety 101
Read July Week 2 CBNN
The rainy summer is here, you can almost set your clock by them. Sadly, we have already seen too many tragic losses to lightning this year. Remember: When the thunder roars, GO INDOORS!"
Week 3: This IS a Drill
Read July Week 3 CBNN
We gave you a preview of what kinds of messages you can expect from us before, during, and after a hurricane passes through the area. You'll see updates from us on Facebook, X (formally known as Twitter), CBNN, and on our website.
Miss a message?
You can view all of our past CBNN emails (including the our Storm Prep series) on the website at any time. In June we covered building kits, getting your home secured, and what you can do now to be ready LONG before a storm is on our heels.
Let’s stay safe and storm-ready, Cocoa Beach!

And neighbor, there's still time to cut those tree branches.
