Storm Prep Monday: Spring Cleaning, Hurricane-Style Hey neighbors! Yesterday, June 1st, marks the official start of hurricane season—and while summer hasn’t technically started, it’s the perfect time for some good ol’ fashioned spring cleaning... with a storm-ready twist. The City is already on it—we’re working with contractors and trimming public trees to make sure we’re ready if a storm comes our way. But we need your help too! Here's how you can join in: - Tidy up underbrush in your yard
- Trim tree limbs—especially ones near your roof or power lines
- Check in with neighbors who might need a hand
- Make sure stormwater drains near your home are clear of leaves and debris
Every branch trimmed and every drain cleared now helps prevent bigger problems later. Let’s keep our streets (and yards) storm-ready—and beautiful while we’re at it. Each Sunday, we’ll share helpful advice to keep you prepared in case a hurricane decides to visit Florida. Stay safe and stay tuned! Bonus Tip: If you're heading outside to clean up, don’t forget the sunscreen and a big bottle of water!
Pop Quiz Time! Think you know your storm stuff? Here’s one to ponder: When does the County close bridges during a storm?
We'll post the answer in next week's newsletter!
Stay sunny and safe, Your friends at the City of Cocoa Beach www.CityOfCocoaBeach.com/HurricanePrep
