Rip Currents! 

As the season goes into full swing, the storms change the dynamic of the ocean floor.  Don't be caught off guard when you are at the beach this weekend! All storms indirectly affect our beautiful coastline. If you are visiting or have visitors ensure they are aware of the danger of rip currents. Be aware that hurricanes and Tropical Storms offshore still affect us with large surf and rip currents. 

From the National Weather Service: 

Despite the nice weather, long-period swells from distant Hurricane Ernesto will produce rough surf and a high risk of rip currents at all east central Florida beaches today. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged!

Westin Resort Update

Westin has reached the point of proceeding with their project The demolition is near completion. As clean-up continues the contractor has taken over the site. 

Starting next week, the contractor, per the approved agreement, will move the construction fences out and enclose the entire location. For safety reasons, the walkway to the beach will be closed to pedestrians for the remainder of the project. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause
