The Volusia County Sheriff's Office informed the Cocoa Beach Police Department about an unpermitted event, allowing the City to prepare and act accordingly before the event arrived in Cocoa Beach. This early notification also enabled the City to inform Westgate of the potential situation at the pier during our busiest weekend.

The City appreciates the support provided by our local agencies, including the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, FHP, and FDLE.

Today, we experienced a successful Saturday with only minor situations that were quickly and efficiently handled. The event organizer understood the severity of the situation and chose to avoid our beaches, thus preventing a potential major crisis.
