Hurricane Season
With hurricane season reaching its statistical peak this Sunday, it's important to stay vigilant and keep track of all activity in the ocean. Currently, Hurricane Lee is off in the Atlantic and while forecasts show it won't directly impact Florida, it's important to stay aware of any additional dangers that may arise unexpectedly. Be prepared, as storm paths can change depending on various forecast variables. Stay safe everyone..
Have you heard about the growing safety concern with lithium-ion batteries? As these batteries become more common in household products, the risk of fire increases. Unfortunately, traditional water-based fire extinguishers are not effective on these fires, as they can actually make the fire worse due to the components in the battery. It's important for everyone to be aware of the potential danger and to take necessary precautions.
Here are five ways to decrease the chances of one of your electronic devices igniting:
Do not charge a device under your pillow, on your bed or on a couch.
Do not keep charging the device or battery after it is fully charged.
Keep batteries at room temperature when possible.
Do not charge batteries at temperatures below 32°F or above 105°F.
Charge larger devices, like electric scooters or bikes, outside of the home.
