Volunteer Opportunity!
Annual Sea Oat Planting and Beach Clean-up!
Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at Alan Shepard Park 9 am - 11:30 am
Join us for the annual sea oat planting and beach clean-up at Shepard Park. Sea oats and other dune vegetation, such as sea grapes, help to strengthen the dune system making Cocoa Beach more resilient to the impacts of storms and providing areas for native wildlife to thrive.
Volunteers should meet at the southern area of Shepard Park at 9 am to receive instructions and a sea oat planting tutorial from the site captain. All planting tools and materials will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own shovel, post-hole digger, trowel, etc. if they wish. Beach clean-up supplies will also be provided. Please help us make this a zero-waste event! Volunteers are encouraged to bring their reusable water bottles and coffee cup. Large jugs of coffee and water and light snacks will be provided. This is a family-friendly event, all are welcome!
